Aunt Ann’s Glazed Walnut Cookies

Ingredients

Walnut Cookies

  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 2¾ cup flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Burnt Butter Glaze

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • ¼ cup undiluted evaporated milk
  • walnut halves, for topping

Directions

Walnut Cookies

Preheat oven to 375˚F.

Mix butter, sugar, and eggs. Stir in milk and vanilla.

Stir in dry ingredients. Blend in nuts. Chill for 1 hour.

Grease and lightly flour cookie sheets. Drop dough by the spoonful 2 inches apart.

Bake for 10 minutes.

Burnt Butter Glaze

Melt 2 tablespoons butter until brown. Do not burn.

Beat in confectioners’ sugar and evaporated milk.

Spread on slightly cooled cookies. Top with half a walnut.
