Y’all, people always talk about my love of butter, my crispy fried chicken, and my gooey mac and cheese, but did you know that my most popular recipe is actually my classic Southern biscuit recipe? Year after year, it’s my most-searched recipe!
But I’ve got more than one mouthwaterin’ biscuit recipe to share, and I wanted to take a little time to shine a spotlight on those, too! Sure I’m sharin’ my original, but you’ll also find the recipe for The Lady & Sons’ Cheese Biscuits recipe, my Sour Cream Butter Biscuits, delicious Cream Cheese-Filled Biscuits, and more.
Biscuit-Making Tips
Here’s some of my best biscuit-making tips to get y’all started:
- Mix and handle the dough as little as possible. This will make sure your biscuits are light and flaky!
- Get your butter extra cold. After cubing the butter, pop it in the freezer for a few minutes so it’s really cold before you cut it in.
- Cut straight down with your biscuit cutter. Twisting will keep the biscuits from rising!
- Brush the biscuits with melted butter before baking to make sure you get that warm, golden color.
- Butter the skillet, too. If you’re using a skillet, butter the bottom so you get those golden, buttery bottoms!
- Bake your biscuits in a hot oven. Hot ovens make those biscuits really spring up quick!
- Try a bunch of other sweet and savory toppings. Y’all know butter is a staple for biscuits, but there are loads of other ways to serve ‘em! You can use sweet toppings, like honey or jam, or savory ones, like gravy or cheese. The choice is all yours!
Next time you need a biscuit recipe to pair with your supper, I hope you’ll choose one of these. Have you tried any yet? I’d love to hear which is your favorite, friends!
