Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground maple pork sausage
  • 6 slices soft hearty white bread, crusts cut off and halved
  • 1 (8-ounce) package shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • ½ teaspoon seasoned pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Directions

Spray a 13×9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium heat, stirring frequently, until browned and crumbly; drain well.

Arrange bread pieces in a single layer in prepared pan, cutting as necessary to cover bottom of dish. Top with sausage and cheese.

In a large bowl, whisk together eggs and all remaining ingredients; pour over sausage and cheese. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours.

Preheat oven to 350˚. Uncover casserole, and let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.

Bake until golden brown and center is set, about 40 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
