Grandma Pautz Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake

Ingredients

Cake

  • 4 Cups all purpose flour
  • 2 Cups sugar
  • 10 Tablespoons Hershey's cocoa
  • 2 Teaspoons baking soda
  • 1½ Cups Hellmann's mayonaisse
  • 2 Teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 Cups hot water

Frosting

  • ½ Cup Butter, softened
  • ⅔ Cup Hershey's cocoa
  • ⅓ Cup milk
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 Cups powdered sugar

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350˚ F. Prep a 9×13 pan with baking spray.

Prepare the cake: In your bowl, mix together the dry ingredients (flour, sugar, cocoa, and baking soda.) Once combined, mix in the mayo, vanilla and hot water.

Pour ingredients into your prepared 9×13 baking dish and bake for 35 minutes.

Prepare the frosting: While the cake is baking, prepare the frosting by mixing together the butter, cocoa, milk, vanilla, and powdered sugar.

After the cake is finished baking, pour the frosting over the cake while it is still warm from the oven. Enjoy!
