Ground Beef and Potato Bake

Ingredients
Ground Beef and Potato Bake
- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- salt, to taste
- Black pepper , to taste
- ¾ cup orange cheddar cheese
- ¾ cup white cheddar cheese
Cream Sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons Sour cream
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 1 teaspoon whole grain or Dijon mustard
- pinch of Nutmeg
- salt, to taste
- Black pepper , to taste
Directions
Ground Beef and Potato Bake
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Warm up a large, ovenproof skillet over a medium heat. Cook ground beef for 5–6 minutes, crumbling it into small pieces until it is lightly browned.
Finely chop 1 onion and add it to the skillet. Cook for 2–3 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant.
Stir in tomato paste and cook for a further minute. Season with paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add Worcestershire sauce and beef broth and simmer for 7 minutes.
Thinly slice the potatoes and place them on the beef mixture. Lightly season with salt and pepper.
Pour the cream sauce over the potatoes. Top with white cheddar first and then orange cheddar.
Bake for 45-60 minutes, until tender and golden.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve.
Cream Sauce
In a small sauce pan add heavy cream, sour cream, butter, a pinch of nutmeg and mustard. Warm gently until smooth, do not boil. Season with salt and pepper.
