Evelyn Brown’s Chew Bread

Servings: 12 to 15
- 1 stick butter, melted
- 1 box light brown sugar
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ¾ cup chopped pecans
- 1 (8-ounce) bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 300˚. Butter a 13x9x2 pan.
Combine butter, light brown sugar, and flour. Then, beat the eggs and add them to the mixture.
Stir in the vanilla, pecans, and chocolate chips.
Bake for 40 minutes. Once cool, cut into squares.
Cook’s Note: Though it’s tempting to cut into them when they come out of the oven, it’s important to wait! They will get a crackly top once they’re cool.
