JUMP TO RECIPE

Difficulty: Easy

Prep time: 20 minutes

Cook time: 10 minutes

Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef (80/20)
  • ½ cup Irish Stout beer
  • 1 packet beefy onion soup mix
  • BBQ sauce
  • 8 slices Monterey Jack cheese
  • 8 hamburger buns, toasted
  • lettuce, for serving
  • sliced onion, for serving
  • sliced tomato, for serving
  • sliced pickles, for serving
  • cooked bacon, optional
  • mayonnaise, for serving

Directions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Guinness stout, and beefy onion soup mix. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat. Let sit for 10 minutes.

Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each to prevent puffing during cooking.

Preheat your grill or skillet to medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you can add a little reserved bacon fat for extra flavor.

Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip them, brush with BBQ sauce, and add a slice of Monterey Jack cheese on top. Cook for another 4-5 minutes until the cheese melts and the burgers are cooked to your preferred doneness.

Assemble the burgers with desired toppings. Serve the burgers with your favorite sides, such as fries or potato salad.
