Cook time: 15 minutes
Servings: 2-4
Ingredients
- 12-14 fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails on
- peanut oil or olive oil
- 1 sweet onion, sliced
- spiced rum or white wine, to deglaze, optional
- 3 tablespoons Key West Old Sour
- seafood seasoning, to taste
- salt, to taste
- black pepper, to taste
- cooked grits, for serving
Directions
Cook the onions over medium heat until translucent. Move the onions to the inside of the pan, and place the shrimp around the outside edge, cooking until the shrimp are slightly pink.
Stir the shrimp and onions together, then drizzle the outside of the pan with the honey, allowing it to run into the shrimp and onion mixture. Once it begins to bubble, fold it all together. Next add the Old Sour, continuing to stir until a gravy forms. Add seafood seasoning, salt, and pepper to taste.
Remove from heat. Place lid over the pan for 3 to 4 minutes and let steam.
Serve over cooked grits.
