9 National Pie Day Recipes

By

Yum! It’s one of the tastiest days of the year—January 23rd is National Pie Day! There are so many pie options to enjoy, but there’s also a heck of a lot to learn about America’s favorite dessert!

According to the American Pie Council, pies have been around since the ancient Egyptians! It makes you wonder, doesn’t it? Which is older—pie or the pyramids?

Those pies later made their way to the Greeks, Romans, and eventually across Europe! Pies came to the New World, AKA right here in the U.S. of A., with the early settlers, and they sure have evolved! While the early pies were mostly of the savory meat variety, the English and Americans eventually started making sweet fruit-filled versions, with Queen Elizabeth I getting credit for the very first cherry pie.

While apple pie probably ranks highest for most beloved pie in America, we have a few more pie recipes you’ll like, as well. Sure, we have a tasty apple pie recipe for you, but we think you’ll also enjoy French Coconut Pie, Lemon Meringue Pie, and Miss Georgia’s Cherry Pie.

We’d love to know with which pie you’ll be celebrating National Pie Day. Let us know in the comments below.
