1/4 cup raisins, optional
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup multi-colored chocolate candies
1 stick butter, softened
1 12-ounce jar creamy peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup granulated sugar
1 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
3 eggs
2 teaspoon baking soda
4 1/2 cup quick-cooking oatmeal (not instant)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or nonstick baking mats.
In a very large mixing bowl, combine the eggs and sugars. Mix well. Add the salt, vanilla, peanut butter, and butter. Mix well. Stir in the chocolate candies, chocolate chips, raisins, if using, baking soda, and oatmeal. Drop by tablespoons 2 inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheets.
Bake for 8-10 minutes. Do not overbake. Let stand for about 3 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool. When cool, store in large resealable plastic bags.

I watch Paula Deen as much as time allows me. She's terrific, I just love her, she makes you feel right at home when you watch her shows. I just love her recipe's. I'll be baking alot for christmas, so I'm definately going to look up alot of her recipes that are easy and delicious. How appropriate it is for this time of year. Actually, all her recipe's are out of this world. It's so great how Paula has her family involved, that makes it even more special. love shelly

I remember making these cookies with my grandma when I was a child, back in the 70"s, We made them in dishpans because we made so many, Thank you so much for bringing back such wonderful memories for me.

These cookies are the best! My son asks for them instead of a birthday cake. I use mini chocolate chips and mini M&M's (increase to full cup). I won a cookie bake off with these cookies and now everyone hounds me for the recipe

I make these every Christmas. My son feels that they are a good breakfast food, oatmeal,peanut butter and raisins. I make two batches one with raisins and the other with dried cranberries. They are a hit for gifts at Christmas time. Thank you for sharing this recipe Paula. Beth

This is easily the best monster cookie I have ever had. I did not use rasins so I put close to a cup of choc chips and m and m s and I used the whole grain oatmeal. These cookies were soft chewy and amazing
