I printed out an the recipe for this spice 18 months ago. It had 1/4 cup of onion powder along with the other parts. It was so simple to make I never bothered to look up the recipe until now. Not sure why she dropped the onion powder but the version I make has it and it is very good on everything.

Hello Sharolyn Jackson and Misty - Sahm,
The House Seasoning contains the ingredients as stated above. You will see in some instances that onion powder is used. Paula's House Seasoning leaves out the onion powder, but sometimes she adds onion powder to it, it can be used in the mix to your own liking. Hope this helps y'all! Thanks for visiting the Paula Deen web site, here at Paula's we encourage y'all to keep trying our recipes!

Has anyone ever found out how much onion powder to put in with the rest of the ingredients? I realize Paula Deen would surely lose some money if she posted the exact recipe (I mean c'mon people, you didn't expect her to divulge all of the ingredients if she is trying to sell the product on her website and in stores) but I wondered if anyone else on here, through trial and error, came up with the right recipe with the right amounts. Thanks! smile

Can someone tell me what the real recipe is for Paula's house seasoning? I've heard paula say it has 1/4 cup onion powder included but on her website, onion powder is not in the recipe.

Hi Dotty Sked! No, House seasoning is not the same as the seasoned salt. You can purchase seasoned salt at the Paula Deen Store. But! In this recipe, for house seasoning, it's just asking for regular salt. For the Dora's recipe it's asking: 1 1/2 teaspoons The Lady’s House Seasoning 1 1/2 teaspoons seasoned salt (recommended: The Lady’s Seasoned Salt) Thanks for visiting the Paula Deen web site!

Hello Honey and Bill Van Sickle, Unfortunately we do not have the recipe for our seasoned salt. You can purchase it through the Paula Deen Store: Seasoned Salt.

When I was watching a video here on Paula's website, about her salt & pepper wooden storage box, she mentioned that her house seasoning is made with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Yet here in the recipe, it does not list onion powder. How much onion powder should be in the house seasoning? thanks

I first got this recipe for your seasoning by watching one of your episodes. I reduced the salt though to a half cup and instead of garlic powder which is made with the husks of garlic I use granulated garlic and fresh ground black pepper which is a little coarser but tastes a lot better. These are spices I use on just about every kind of meat but before in an unmeasured amount because each was applied seperately. Works better blended. I sometimes watch others on the cooking channel but your are the recipes I turn to cause they are uncomplicated and turn out great everytime. I guess it's just because everything seems like just great comfort food.

Simple and easy and I put it on/in everything! I made a huge batch, put it in pretty jars and gave it as gifts last year. This year everyone I gave it to requested more.

I made your House Seasoning last year and am almost out of it. I looked up the recipe again and it's not what I remembered. I really thought it also included seasoning salt along with the other ingredients. Did Paula change it up?

The recipe for house seasoning calls for garlic, pepper and salt but on the bottle that I have it has more spices in the ingredients. I can't find the seasoning in my area and I really like it a lot. I bought it quite awhile ago at Big Lots here but they don't have any Paula Deen seasoning anymore. Could you tell me the other ingredients, (it says other spices)? Since I can't find it I would like to make some. Thank you?

Tried the house seasoning twice. 1st time was way too salty so i reduced it to 3/4 cup....what do ya know...still salty. Think the recipe needs to be rethought then rewritten for audience. Overall..the ribs the 2nd time were good though.

Paula, do you have a recipe for quacamole w/o vinegar?

I like to use it to make garlic toast. Use just a little because it will be very salty but the garlic powder and pepper is what seasons the salt. Olive oil on your toast and a light shake of House Salt, perfect. Great on popcorn too but I also add Paprika.
