Recipe Courtesy of Paula DeenServings: 4 servings
Cook Time: 10 min

1 cup milk
1 cup buttermilk

1/4 cup self-rising cornmeal
2 tablespoons coarse ground black pepper
3 tablespoons salt
2 pounds medium shrimp, peeled and deveined with tails left on

Make sure your shrimp are dry and dredge in the dry mixture first, then wet mixture and finally the dry mixture again. Shake off excess between each dredging.
Deep-fry in batches, but do not overload the fryer. Fry for 2 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oil with a slotted spoon and drain on the paper towel lined baking tray. Serve warm.

First I want to say I love Paula and her boys and use alot of their recipes. But the fried shrimp recipe has way to much salt(3 tablespoons) I am thinking this is an error, you might want to check it out.

This was quite possibly the best shrimp I've ever tasted. I made it for my son's birthday party. Only addition I made was I added garlic salt w/ parsley to the list of seasonings and OMG, I couldn't keep up! They were flying off the plate faster than I could fry them!!!

The first couple of bites were great and then the salt kicked in. The amount has to be wrong. The shrimp were so salty, I threw away most of them away. Maybe no salt would be better. Love your recipes Paula.

This receipe was so good with one exception. SALT was way to much. I am going to try this receipe again tomorrow night with less salt. (if any)I will let you know the outcome. I love you Paula Deen!!

First let me say Paula is my very favorite TV cook. I was very excited about making this recipe, but I think there surely MUST have been a TYPO about the amount of salt!!! I added the 3 TBS. that it called for and thank goodness I had only cooked about a 1/2 dozen shrimp. I love salt as much as anyone, but 3 TBS. is WAY too much for our taste. So, I threw that flour mixture out and started all over adding just 1 TBS. salt and it was still PLENTY salty. The self-rising flour and corn meal both have salt and probably the hot sauce too, so next time I'm going to try adding NO salt at all. Just wanted to share my experience. Maybe it should have been 3 tsp. of salt....still a little much for our taste buds. Love, love, love Paula. I'm so happy I found her website! Jan:)

I visited the PaulaDeen.com site for the first time the other day and came across this recipe. I don't like cooking nearly as much as I like eating, but gave this a try. It was EXCELLENT and oh, so easy! I also fried chicken tenders along with the shrimp and they were both delicious! This one is definitely a keeper and will make a perfect addition to our annual fish fry.
