Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Paula Deen's House Seasoning
  • 1 (5 lb) standing rib roast

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Allow roast to stand at room temperature for at least 1 hour. Rub roast all over with the House Seasoning. Place roast on a rack in a pan with the rib side down and the fatty side up. Roast for 1 hour. Turn off oven. Leave roast in the oven but do not open oven door for another 3 hours. About 30-45 minutes before serving time, turn oven to 375°F to reheat the roast.

Cook's Note: Do not remove roast or re-open the oven door from the time roast is put in until ready to serve.

The best Prime R

The best Prime Rib Roast ever! It's perfectly done and the House Seasoning gives it such a great flavor. And, it's easy to fix. You can't go wrong on this one.

I wrote comments

I wrote comments below in October but neglected to rate it. So, I'm back to properly rate it. Here are my comments previously with the rating this time!

"I have used this recipe for several years. It is truly easy and foolproof. Sometimes, I will also add some fresh thyme and or rosemary to the House Seasoning rub. Gives herbal notes to the au jus. Fabulous!!"
