Recipe Courtesy of Paula DeenAn invigorating exfoliator made in your kitchen for pennies compared to spa brands and will leave your skin glowing.
Servings: Yields a 14 oz. container
Prep Time: 10 min
Difficulty: Easy
1 cup Dark Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil, can substitute Sweetened Almond Oil or Vegetable Oil
1 teaspoon Vitamin E (cut open Vitamin E liquid gel caps)
1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract , optional (or your favorite citrus essential oil)
1 tablespoon honey, optional for dry skin
In a medium mixing bowl, combine oil, vitamin E and vanilla. Add the brown sugar and mix well.
To Use: In the shower, apply Corrie’s Brown Sugar Body Scrub into skin and rinse. Can be used daily. Corrie’s Note: Please be aware that oils can make the shower and bath surfaces very slippery.
Corrie’s Gift Packaging Tip: I like to save plastic containers from other products and replace the label with one I made myself on the computer. Tie it up with a colorful ribbon and you have a wonderful homemade beauty gift!

I made this recipe yesterday as Mothers Day gifts for my mom, mother in law, sister in law, and best friend. I agree, it doesn't have a fragrance...altho, that's probably good for sensitive skin.
Mine also turned out very oily, and I only put in 1/4-1/3 cup oil per batch instead of the 1/2 that the recipe calls for.
I used it on my hands and they were so soft afterwards. I put each batch in a little mason jar and tied it with a ribbon. Hopefully the girls in my life like them. ![]()

Cpuld you substitute coconut oil for the other oil options?
By Aj on January 26, 2012
I made this scrub, haven't used it yet, but it seems very oily, like it needs something else to soak up the oil. Is it suppose to be like this? Thanks for your feedback

I made this for my son's teacher as a Christmas gift this year. I also made some for myself as a tester. I found that it was extremely moisturizing but not really fragrant. I think I'll add some essential oil next time instead of the vanilla extract...or maybe my vanilla was a little old? Nevertheless, this was a great gift and sparked my interest into other homemade spa recipes. The mixtress in me can't wait to experiment!

I want to know... can you use Raw Sugar in place of the Brown sugar?
By Rachel on December 19, 2011
This smelled wonderful when I made it for a friend's b day gift. I tried a little on my own skin and it was great. I highly recommend. I am planning to give away for Christmas gifts as well.

Has anyone tried the sugar body scrub off of http://www.abbibody.com? I was going to make some for my wife but I know there is no way that I could Hide it from her so I think I better just buy it. Any insight would be great!

What great ideas. I'm going to put a link in my next newsletter for Celebrate-Family.com. Do you have any ideas for men? It would be great to have some Father's Day present ideas. My daughter and I will be making some for Grandma's birthday this month. Thanks again. Marian

Paula I love anything you put out there and can't afford a lot of everything but I prize my pots and pans as do my cuz and her husband who loves to cook, in fact he tells my cuz to not touch as he loves them.I love seeing your niece Corrie doing natural cosmetics as my Grandmother, who I cherished, taught my cuz and I a lot of natural ways of doing facials with honey and eggs One of your biggest fans Gayle Whitaker

Hey Amii! Store the brown sugar body scrub in a sealed container and it will stay fresh for up to 3 months. I'm sure it won't last that long though!
