Top 10 Recipes of 2020

By

2020 was a crazy year for everyone. From nonstop election coverage to global pandemics, quarantines, and a hiatus on most in-person events, this year somehow dragged on and flew by as we all begrudgingly accepted a new normal.

While not immune to the challenges of 2020, Paula also had a couple of bright spots this past year. Not only did she open another Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen location, this time in Nashville, Tennessee, but she also started her popular Quarantine Cooking and Holiday Cooking & Baking Recipes with Paula Deen series on her YouTube channel!

While we aren’t sad to see it go, we are saying goodbye to 2020 and welcoming in 2021 with a look back at the top 10 most popular recipes here at PaulaDeen.com.

Did your favorite Paula Deen recipe make the top 10 for 2020? Let us know in the comments below!

10. Cheeseburger Casserole – This family-friendly supper is a newcomer to the list this year! Featured on Quarantine Cooking, it experienced a surge of popularity in 2020. Make it ahead or quickly assemble it after work for a meal the whole family, young and old, will enjoy.

9. Sour Cream Pound Cake Another new addition this year is a classic Southern dessert that has been updated with the addition of sour cream. It’s the perfect thing to have on-hand for guests that drop in. Serve it on its own, with fresh fruit and whipped cream, or with a scoop of ice cream to really take things to the next level.

8. Corn Casserole – What do you know—another unranked recipe from last year cracked into the top 10! While we love it at Easter and Thanksgiving, this super simple and super delicious side dish works perfectly year-round. Pro-tip: serve it with creamed corn to spoon over top.

7. The Lady’s Cheesy Mac – Somehow, Paula’s famous homemade Southern mac & cheese recipe didn’t make the list in 2019, but it appears that people put down the boxed macaroni & cheese in lieu of some traditional Southern comfort.

6. Chicken & Dumplings – And for further proof that people are looking for a little extra comfort this year, 2020’s number six most popular recipe jumped up from ranking number 9 last year. And is there any food more comforting than a big bowl of chicken & dumplings? We didn’t think so.

2019 ranking: 9

5. Old-Fashioned Meatloaf, AKA, Basic Meatloaf – Meatloaf has been a staple at suppertime for years, and since Paula’s classic meatloaf recipe was the fifth most popular recipe of 2020 on PaulaDeen.com, it appears its popularity isn’t waning!

2019 ranking: 2

4. Original Gooey Butter Cake – Found in every one of her restaurants, this ooey, gooey, melt-in-your-mouth dessert is a favorite among Paula fans everywhere. And while you’ll find plenty of variations on PaulaDeen.com, including chocolate, toffee, and lemon-lavender, the people have spoken—the original reigns supreme!

2019 ranking: 4

3. Peach Cobbler – Taking a bite of Paula’s warm & gooey homemade Peach Cobbler is like taking a bite of the South! Jumping up two spots this year, this delicious Southern dessert, featuring Georgia’s favorite export, shows that this recipe keeps getting better through the years!

2019 ranking: 5

2. Biscuits – For years, biscuits held the #1 spot until last year when they were knocked back from the top spot to the third most popular recipe on the site. Ever since, they’ve clamored back up a spot to claim second place! And since there is no homemade Southern biscuit recipe nearly as good as Paula’s, it doesn’t surprise us one bit that it’s the second most popular recipe of 2020 on PaulaDeen.com!

2019 ranking: 3

1. Not Yo’ Mama’s Banana Pudding – And the reigning champ prevails! Remaining in the #1 spot this year is Paula’s ever-popular year-round dessert favorite. Victory really is sweet, isn’t it?
