Paula, I am so excited about your success with managing your health concerns! I am a 2 year survivor of cancer and I am beginning to get back to a more normal lifestyle. I look forward to reading more about your "healthier lifestyle" choices. I am already in love with your recipes and southern cooking. I know I will love your new ones too. I am so proud of you! Love and best dishes! Phyllis Clark

Thank you so much for your lovely video, "What Southern Cooking Means to Me". It really hit home with me. My grandmothers and my mother were all fine Southern cooks, and even though I aspire to be like them, I know that I will always fall a little short. Both my grandmothers are angels now, and my mother (a stroke victim) can no longer speak. I try to remember the lessons they taught me and know that my culinary education is actually a journey. Watching you brings me closer to them and also brings me peace. Bless you, Miss Paula ~ Tracy Melendez

I love and watch Paula's shows when I can. I use a lot of her recipes.I have so many family recipes that are so simular or the same, that I grew up eating, that I make today. Hot water cornbread, Hoecakes with homegrown tomatoes, My Mother in law's cream cheese pound cake, coconut pound so many layer cakes and more. I enjoy cooking, I cook for co-workers friends and family, I known as the Paula Deen of Summit MS. Enjoy seeing and hearing you and trying your recipes. I know you would love to try mine. My daddy's Mother Granny Elmore (Hattie) raised 13 children , my Mothers Mama MawMaw raised 6 with my mama the baby she got polio at the age of 6 and has been in a wheelchair every since she is 84 yrs. old goes and comes on her own, taking care of the oldest sister 97. God has a special place in heaven for people like my mother and other family members. I know that they are waiting patiently for them, but I'm not ready to give them up. Made my Cream Cheese Pound Cake for my Daddy all the time it was my Mother-in Laws recipie it is so good and moist. I've made is several times after his passing and there is something missing. My daddy always said, cause you never know about a pound cake I don't care who you are. If it's dry put a little Ice Cream on it, if its a little clammy put a little Ice Cream on it and ya know I'll be dog if he wasn't right. Thanks daddy (Big Slim). Keep um coming Paula , I'll keep a trying. Peace Out Tesa VanNorman AKA Paula Deen of Summit MS.

Thank you Paula for being true to yourself. Thank you for sharing the good times as well as the bad times with us. It was a drought season for you and your sons lives, but now because of your ability to continually stand in spite of it all, you are blessed. I am now in the golden age of my life, so I think about how blessed I was to experience the joy of cooking with my mother and grandmother. It took me many years to appreciate it. I was taught about how southern cooking is the essence for feeding the body, and also for feeding the soul. I was brought to California at an early age, so I feel like I've missed out on the greatest experience in my life by not remaining in the south. I thank you and your sons for carrying the torch that was left for you by your family. God bless.

I am 61 and I still have a hand written recipe from my Grand-Mother. It was one that she thought up on her own. It was a blackberry jam cake. I was a very young cook then, nineteen young dumb and newly wed. I had no idea then how much I would treasure her wonderful recipes. My girls and son are always asking for recipes and lots are from my Grand-Mother. Paula is like home. I love her recipes and stories.

I cannot express the feeling I get from watching this video,I love Paula and I have and use so many of her cookbooks and recipes everyday!Listening to her talk about her mother and seeing and knowing what it meant to her to have these memories touches my heart. My mother taught me quit abit about cooking, but my daddy was the experimenter in the family.I set here and think of the times daddy got my sister and me in the kitchen and showed us how to make something and my mind goes to a wonderful time and place I wouldnt trade for nothing.Just like with my grandmal sunday dinners for 25 or 30 and she worked at a school in the cafeteria and watching her cook when I was little was just priceless.Shoot there were so many of us kids shed start out the new year cooking a big ole pot of cabbage for good luck and us kids would fight over who got to scrub up the pennys she throw in the pot for good luck threwout the year,ha!Me and Paula have alot in common and even if I didnt know her she and I would be great friends.I cant tell you the joy she has brought to my life with her shows and recipes and how much my husband of 1 year appreciates her and I for the wonderful food! You Go Girl!

Paula, I love your recipes, your nature, and all around wonderful personality. I enjoy watching you cook with your sons as well. I completely understand where you are coming from when you say that good dishes are made with love. As well as how important it is to learn to cook from our grandmothers, mothers, and other family members. I learned so much from my grandmother. I love watchin your shows not just because the food looks amazing. It is the way you share your life with us as you cook. There are times when I can hear your sweet voice when I get an idea of something I want to try. Or when I reach for the butter because of one show was all about butter and your excitement just filled me. I will be honest I do not have any of your cook ware, your books, or any of that, and I haven't seen your show in sometimes. Its not that I don't want to its because money is so tight I can't afford to. I miss your shows and your engery. I miss the way I feel as if I am in the kitchen with you hanging on your every word. If my grandmother would have been southern, I think she would have been just like you. Please keep on sharing with all of us your treasures, and memories. I actually missed ya so much I snuck away today just to try to find some of your videos. Thank you for sharing with me and everyone else out there. May your kitchen always be filled with laughter, great food, and wonderful aromas.

on your show - when you made 'uncle bubba's corn meal muffins' you stated to use 'self rising' corn meal ^& if you didn't have self rising you could use _______ added to regular corn meal - was it baking soda or powder - & how much ? Enjoy your shows & recipes. Also when a dish has been 'over-salted' - I can't remember what to use to remove some of the salt taste? Thanks in advance. P
