This video could have been about my Grandmother and myself, what special memories it brought back I am 52 years old with 3 kids and 7 grandkids, they all like watching the cooking shows with me but yours is the very best because you come to life and dont feel fake. I am loosing my job of 18.5 years but looking forward to having the time to spend in the kitchen teaching them its about family and traditions. Thank You

Paula, Thanks for sharing the lace hoecake recipe. I learned to make them from my dear Granny & it brings such comfort to make those for my family. We must be birds of a feather, girl, because I've never met anyone else who knew about these wonderful little bites of succulence! Granny hailed from Sandersville/Davisboro area in GA so I am thinking this is a very regional thing. I've never been able to find anything about these particular hoecakes until today.... Thanks, again smile and keep up the good work!

Hi Paula... Sadly I was raised with frozen tv dinners and canned soups. Neither my mother or grandmother ever had any passion for cooking. My husband loves to eat and adores variety. Watching your episodes have motivated me to do my best from the kitchen to the table. I want my family to enjoy eating. Look foward on learning more from your episodes, books and blog. Thanks for your inspiration. God blesss you and your family. Nelida

Watched this thru tears just as I finished your book, "It Ain't All About the Cookin". Bought the book on my first trip to Savannah, after a visit to 'The Lady and Sons". What a story, what a lady, what a mom. God's blessings have hit you square on the head and you're giving them back every day....through your love, your spirit, your food.....you had to go through all that crap because God had that shaggy haired man, just hanging on that fence...all that time, waiting for you. He knew what he had in store for you, and you never disappointed him by giving up. I laughed and cried thru your book....made myself a member of team Paula, and will continue to be a staunch supporter of you and southern charm....and thank God we don't have to always take a 'princess bite.' Hugs to you... Rhonda from My Old Kentucky Home 4/6/12

I rate this a 10. Mam that was Beautiful. That is how I feel also. I love making people Happy and I love to cook for everyone. I make a lot of down ole good country cooking. You are an AMAZING woman, your sons must be so PROUD of you. Thank you for being you and showing us ways to make that Special meal for our loved ones, family and friends. I too have so many fond memories of my Great Grandma & Grandpa, My Mothers Mother( Whom I adored and love so very much to this day) My Mama & Pop were GREAT cooks. They both loved to cook. The Smells of something cooking on the stove or in the oven. A lot of what I know is from them. I only wished I would of paid attention at a younger age. But they taught us all well. All 7 of us siblings are good cooks, and what we do not remember we call one another. Thank you for the video, it brought so many memories back. I would love to meet you Mam. So I could learn from you. When you are standing right beside someone I learn a lot more. God Bless and may your day be filled with so much sunshine and love. Loved this video, Paula. Really touched my heart. My fondest memories of family gatherings are of those centered around our love of food, cooking, enjoying eating, and talking about food! I really miss those days. Sadly I think this "joy" is being lost, but I am hoping we can continue to gently nudge and press our younger loved ones toward this direction.

Yep, there are so many memories around cooking as a family. I remember my grandmother mixing up and baking raisin bread, and we still make that today (once in a while - it's a real treat - it's made with LARD!)! I distinctly remember my mom cooking up liver for my dad - and how wonderful it smelled when she was cooking it, but how I would never touch it once it was done! I remember hunting all over the kitchen for my grandmother's cooking fork when I started my own kitchen - something I couldn't do without. I have no kids either, but I pass recipes down to my nieces and to anyone and everyone who wants them, but they all know where they came from. It's all so special! Thanks for the video, Paula!

Paula is right you know. Don't forget your roots if you don't take time and notice and learn from your parents and family. Years will be gone and your setting at the table talking about things your parents did and there is parts you can't remember. Like different ways they cooked or what they used in their recipes. I use to watch my dad cook and he never measured anything he always seam to know how much to use. Our grand mother was always cooking on a wood burning stove and as soon as we were in the door she started cooking. I so miss that. I don't have children to carry on our parents way of cooking. But if you do please make sure you write down a few recipes from them and your grand children to remember.

Not sure how to rate this, it is a 10 in my heart , being the very best. Paula means a lot to me, she is the inspiration when I am feeling down and need a perk up, I watch one of these videos or see a dvr recording and it changes my whole day, her happiness is contagious and if you want to bring yourself out of that dark cloud of hopelessness , well Ms. Paula can bring you out of that with her bliss that shines out of heart and into that kitchen. She has changed me and Paula is the therapy we all need to overcome our challenges. You don't know me Paula but what you have done for me is something no doctor could have helped me with. I say God keep Paula strong for all of us, if she can lead us into that light of good hope their is nothing to stop us all from being happy on this good planet of ours. I love you Paula!!!!!!
