Thanks Paula, I can stop eating these things!!! Wonderful, easy to make !! What I like best is that it is a light dessert; great for summertime. My Dads all time favorite dessert is four layer delight and he actually said that he liked this better. But here is a suggestion or tip that someone might find useful. When I have a party, I like to put desserts in individual portion cups. This desserts works great for that. Prepare the recipe as directed. When the crust comes out of the oven, let slightly cool. Then scoop out the crust and press into the bottom of a clear plastic portion cup. I used 9oz cups which yielded about 12. Then top with the cream cheese mixture, and pour the jello mix on top. This way also makes it very pretty because you can see all the layers.

Hey Lynne Desilets! Only drain the pineapple in a recipe if the recipe states to do so. Also, fresh strawberries would work just fine in this recipe.

I have used fresh strawberries before when I didn't have frozen ones and they worked just fine. I DO drain the oranges and pineapple.

The first time I made this I found the recipe with orange jello and mandarin oranges. I made it for a funeral dinner at our church and it was all GONE!! I love it with orange or strawberry, but probably prefer it with oranges. Either way, it is scrumptious!!!

My family loves this salad. I make it upside down with the pretzels on top. Makes it much easier and the pretzels stay crisp. Try it

I have a few questions...Do you drain the pineapple first? Thaw the frozen strawberries? Can you use fresh berries? If so do you have to adjust the water?
By Lynne Desilets on July 20, 2011
Oh my, this is the best thing ever! This is the exact recipe my aunt has been making for over 25 years. I haven't had it in a while and am on my way to the grocery store for the the ingredients.

I've been making this for years. Most love it for a desert instead of a salad. Either way it is great. You might also consider with all or part of the last layer to add cool whip to it and "fluff" up the strawberries and jello. This also makes this dish wonderful.
