A bone in roast will cook faster than a boneless roast because the bone conducts heat.

Jamie’s Chili

Ingredients:

shredded cheddar, sour cream, chopped green onions, for garnish
1   (14 1/2-ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1   (14 1/2-ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
1   (14 1/2 ounce) can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
ground cumin
1   (28-ounce) can whole, peeled tomatoes
2 cup chopped celery
chili powder
1   package chili seasoning mix

2   (28-ounce) can diced tomatoes
1   green bell pepper diced
1   medium onion, diced
1 lb mixed ground beef and sausage, browned and drained

Directions

Brown ground beef in skillet and drain.  Spray large pot with nonstick cooking spray and heat over medium heat. Add the onion, green pepper, and celery and saute briefly. Stir in the diced and whole tomatoes. Add cumin and chili powder, to taste, and cook for about 8 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Add the beans, browned meat, and chili seasoning. Partially cover, and let simmer for 4 hours.

LOVE IT! My husband challenged me to make it, I love making things unique to my fams taste, so I used ribeye steaks marinated in lime and smoke flavoring and a spicy sausage, used a couple fresh jalapeno's I had left in the fridge instead of a whole bell pepper and this was a hit, we had company over I served them this hot version of jamie's chili in bread bowls and had no leftovers! Now our friends are as hooked on your show and recipes as I always have been! Thanks!

Best chili ever! My whole family can not get enough of it. Even my 14 year old son makes it. (with mom watching ofcourse). We do not do leftovers, but this is one dish we will warm up the next day. Yummy.

My family LOVED this chili! I used the spices in the 2 Alarm Chili kit for the cumin, chili powder, and chili seasoning mix in the recipe. I'm not a tomato fan, so I roughly chopped the whole tomatoes.

I think Jamie Deen is the cat's meow but this chili was just not my style. Way too much celery and tomatoes.

Hey Tish! The chili powder is to taste. I would start with 1/2 tablespoon and work up from there as you need it. The chili seasoning mix will add a lot of flavor. Libbie Summers, Paula Deen Food Editor

Hey Mona! We're sorry you didn't care for Jamie's Chili. This is one of his favorites and he loves when his mother makes it. Chili is one of those things we all have our specific flavor profile favorites. We would love to hear yours! It's always fun to hear what other people love to have in their chili! Happy Cooking! Wow, this was great! My in-laws were in town and I made this and still had some left over! It was a hit! I actually substituted 1 lb of ground chicken for the beef and still used 1/2 lb of hot sausage and it was excellent!! Thanks Paula (and Jamie)!
