Servings: 6 to 8 servings, about 3/4 cup
Prep Time: 1 hour 25 min
Cook Time: 1 hour 30 min
Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients Add to grocery list

Honey Glaze:

1 cup confectioners’ sugar
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons milk

Apple Cake:

3 cups diced Granny Smith apples, about 2 apples
1 cup lightly toasted chopped walnuts
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups vegetable oil
3 eggs

Glaze: Add all the ingredients to a small bowl and stir until smooth. Set the bowl aside.

Cake: Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Lightly grease a Bundt pan or tube pan.

In a bowl, mix together the apples, walnuts, vanilla, and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

Using an electric mixer beat the sugar, oil, and eggs in a large bowl. Add in the dry ingredients and beat until completely combined. Fold in the apple mixture.

Scrape the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until a tester inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean.

Allow the cake to fully cool in the pan, about 1 hour, and then turn it out onto a plate.

Drizzle the apple cake with some of the honey glaze, serve and enjoy!

Cook’s Note:

The cake can be wrapped tightly and stored in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days.

Hi Paula, Have made this cake a dozen times, just love it, but yesterday I made it and it would not cook in the center. What did I do wrong?

Very new to baking home-made things. Would this recipe be enough for a double layer circle cake? Need something easy but also out of the ordinary for the county show. My daughter is only 13 and inexpierenced baker. Thanks for any ideas you may have.

Excellent recipe. Even better the next day. I stay true to the recipe for the most part. The last two times I made it I used pure maple syrup instead of honey in the glaze. So yummy!

This cake is AMAZING. It is extremely moist and very tasty. My family is from New Orleans and we are used to amazing flavor and this cake has it. I think this is a new family favorite, right next to the sour cream pound cake. Paula's recipe's NEVER fail. I followed the directions exactly, with one deviation, I used Gala apples. Can't wait to make this cake again, I might try it with a cream cheese glaze... Thanks Paula!!!!!

Hi Dean Family: This Apple Cake has my attention but I'm going to make it Diabetic-friendly. Since the apples themselves are so delicious, I can take away some sugar and it won't be missed and I'll be able to have some. Years ago I learned that you can cut the sugar in 1/2 in most recipes and it won't make a difference. I can't wait to try it. Thanks for sharing.

This is an easy cake to make and delicious. Check it in just over an hour. Instead of milk in the glaze, I added honey and apple butter. It gave a great taste to the cake. I will make this again.
