Very good recipe. Tastes like the dish that Mamma Nell cooked for me as a child. I miss her and I miss her cooking. Asked her for her recipes and she just said "I don't write things down, I just cook what I got". Well I got a bumper crop of Okra in my back yard and people who put their feet under my table and going to get a lot of this one.

If you add sausage to the Okra and tomato receipe, you will have a meal in one. It is so good!

Hey Ellen! No, you do not drain the cans of diced tomatoes before you add them. Happy Cooking! Our okra is plentiful right now! Paula's garden is exploding with it.

Made this recipe for my husband on Father's Day. The entire family loved it. I will always use this recipe. It was much better than my husbands method. Sharon

I had been cooking this for the past 35, or so, years for my Daddy. He past away a year ago today...and I found this recipe. Wonderful recipe. This is the first time that I've actually seen a recipe in print for this. We use to make a meal out of it by adding leftover ham, cubed. I made this in memory of my Daddy, Luther Harold Askew 1923-2009. This was made for you Daddy...I love and miss you so much. Brenda Askew Fortenberry
