Recipe Courtesy of Paula DeenUnique flavors blend to make this a fabulous and delicious appetizer or starter.
Prep Time: 15 min
Cook Time: 30 min
Difficulty: Easy
2 pounds ground beef
1 pound ground pork
1 C evaporated milk
1 C Dry bread crumbs
2 large eggs
2 T Olive Oil
1 Large onion, finely chopped
2 stalks celery, finely chopped
1 cloves garlic, minced
1 12 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons curry powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Canola oil for frying
1 jar Sweet & Mild Grilling Sauce
1 small can crushed pineapple
In a small saute pan, heat olive oil and saute onions, celery and garlic until onions are translucent. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, milk, bread crumbs, eggs, onion mixture, salt, curry and pepper. Mix well.
Shape mixture into 1-inch balls. Cover the bottom of a large saute pan with oil and bring to medium/high heat. Place meatballs (a few at a time) in the pan and cook until just browned on the outside. (Do Not overcook, meatballs will finish cooking in the sauce.) Remove and drain on a paper towel lined baking sheet. Continue working in batches until all meatballs are cooked. In a large sauce pan place the cooked meatballs and pour over the Paula Deen Sweet and Mile Sauce and crushed pineapples. Simmer until heated through. Serve warm.

In the Sweet and Mild Meatball Appetizers recipe you say " cook until just browned on the outside. (Do Not overcook, meatballs will finish cooking in the sauce.)" However, the remaining instructions say "In a large sauce pan place the meatballs and pour over the Paula Deen Sweet and Mile Sauce and crushed pineapples. Simmer until heated through." We're working with hamburger and ground pork which I thought should be well done! Since it apparently is only sauteed until outside is just brown, shouldn't the final step be cooked more than simmering "until heated through"?

Being a working Mom with two jobs, I do not have alot of time to spend with my 5 year old Grandson J.J. But he loves to get into the kitchen with me (BUBBA.) Yes, I am a Bubba. J.J. has a hearing and speaking problem so he calls me BUBBA. We will watch your show and pick out recipes that he can help me with. He loves to make pancakes and cut up bananas (with a butter knife). This recipe, he got to pour, mix and chop. He rolled the meatballs, using an small ice cream scoop. He had not tried pineapple that way before but since it was part of the recipe, he was willing to taste it Now he loves pineapple and putting the little toothpicks in the meatballs. Thanks WE think you are Great. Our wishes to your kitchen from our is to keep rocking out those recipes and being the sweet lady that we have grow to love on the Foodnetwork.
