Recipe Courtesy of Paula DeenServings: 10-12 servings
Prep Time: 15 min
Cook Time: 5 min
Difficulty: Easy
1 large angel food cake
For the custard:
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (12-ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
For the glaze:
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
3 tablespoons strawberry gelatin (recommended: Jell-O)
1 cup water
2 cups fresh strawberries cut in 1/2 (if berries are extra large, they can be cut into quarters)
Whole fresh strawberries and mint leaves, for garnish
Slice cake, using a serrated knife, horizontally into 3 equal layers.
For the custard:
Mix together cream cheese, condensed milk, and whipped topping in a bowl; set aside.
For the glaze:
In a medium saucepan, stir together sugar, cornstarch, and gelatin; add water. Cook stirring over medium heat until thick. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. Fold in strawberries.
For assembly:
Place 1 layer of cake in a large clear bowl. Top with a layer of glaze, followed by a layer of custard mixture. Repeat layering in this order for remaining cake, glaze and custard. Top cake with 3 whole fresh strawberries and fresh mint leaves.

Delicious and simple. Used yellow cake mix, doubled glaze . It was a big hit for my husbands birthday.

I LOVE this recipe! It was the perfect recipe for my family gathering. I recommend it to everyone that asks for a recipe suggestion. Thanks Paula for this. One thing I added to the recipe was crushed graham crackers as a layer between the custard and glaze. It was yummy!!!

Our favorite dessert recipe! Always the hit of the party! Our preference is to bake a yellow cake and use that instead of the angel food, but it is fantastic either way. Yum! And to the person below----it tastes even better the next day!

I have prepared this dish before; however, I was wondering if the cake would become to soggy if I prepared it the night before?

This has become a new family favorite. This dessert is perfect for the Christmas holidays with its rich red and white layers. It is relatively easy to make and I guarantee that your guests will ask for the recipe.

This recipe is fabulous!!!! Although, I tweeked it just a little bit because I didn't want to use the frozen whipped topping. I made homemade whipped cream and then added the cream cheese and condensed milk to that. Oh my! It is wonderful!!!! As usual Paula didn't let us down. Paula I would love to meet with you and cook with you. It is a dream of mine! In fact I would love to show you how I did this recipe!!!

I really don't know where to start with this recipe because it's so much to talk about! Maybe the custard, maybe the filling with the custard..idk!!
This is so delicious!! I made this last night and since I have more custard leftover, I'm pretty sure I will make it again once my first cake is all gone! I'm actually eating some now lol.. Thanks Paula!!
