Servings: 8
Cook Time: 20 min
Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients Add to grocery list

1 box of white cake mix, baked in three 8” cake pans
3 quarts strawberries, stems removed and cut in half
1/3 cup sugar
Whipped Cream:
16 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups heavy cream

Place cut strawberries and 1/3 cup sugar. Stir together and place in the refrigerator until ready to assemble cake.

Mix cake mix as directed and pour into three 8” prepared cake pans. Bake just until set and slightly golden (approximately 15-20 minutes).

When cake has cooled, place cream cheese, sugar and vanilla in the bowl of a standing mixer fitted with whisk attachment. Whisk at medium-high speed until light and fluffy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed. Reduce speed to low and add heavy cream in slow stream. When almost fully combined, increase speed to medium-high and beat until mixture holds stiff peaks.

To assemble cake: Place one cake layer in a large bowl or on a pedestal. Line the outer edges with a decorative row of strawberry halves. Fill the middle with some of the strawberry mixture. Top with a layer of the whipped cream mixture. Repeat one more layer. For the third and final layer place last cake on the other two layers. Arrange strawberry halves decoratively around the edge. Top with the remaining strawberry mixture. Serve with any left over whipped cream you may have. Have your guests just dig in!

Paula - I love your shows and your recipes. Even the ones with lots of calories. smile I think you should stop apologizing for saying something "politically incorrect" 20 or 30 years ago, when the world was a different place, and people often said things they shouldn't say. You can apologize just so much, and then more apologies will sound hollow and trite. Please know that we love you and we are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO disappointed that the Food Network pulled your shows. And I'm so sorry that at least some of your sponsors have dropped you. I think that is so very wrong, in so many ways. Hold your head high, and continue to do good things for people, and try to find another network that will allow you to do the thing you love to do - teach people to cook! Hang in there! Liz

Paula, Thank you for your show. I can't go anywhere because I have a bedfast mommy who has Alzheimers. We will watch your show together. She will say there is Paula. even though she is sick she still knows you. The show she fussed, about and mom said," whats wrong with Paula," is when you made hamburgers and put them on doughnts. She is 81 now and I am doing the best I can. Before I helped with my Dad he had Alzheimers also. That was 13 yrs. with him. He passed in my arms. I am sorry for rambling. But I just wanted to say your show gives me something to look forward to each day. It takes me away in my mind for just awhile. I do love to cook. I cook for the church alot since I can't go there either. My husband knew I wanted a Kitchen Aid mixer so bad. He found one at a good will store in NC. WHe paid $ 6.00 for it but the gears were stripped. So God bless his heart he got on the computer and ordered the gears for $ 35.00 and when he got them he put it together and I now have my kitchen aid. God Bless you and your family I so Love to see you all. Thank You again for sharing your time and great recepies with us. Debbie Butner.

The whipped cream makes WAY to much and is SUPER sweet. Its all just a little bland and tasteless in my opinion, but it sure looks nice on the table.
