I made this tonight and after reading all the comments I added the pectin. It still came out very runny. When it's runny, what are your suggestions on its uses?

This is soooo good. As to the comments about the 'runny' tendency, a large part of that depends upon the variety of pears you use, and their water content, and please use the quality crushed pineapple - the cheap stuff has a lot of water in it. You can drain some liquid off the pineapple if necessary. BUT, it is NOT a preserve or a jam, so it is thinner. There's nothing wrong with that. No need for pectin. Anyway, we like it the consistency of room temperature honey, and it is. Everyone loves it.

Thick and Delicious! I don’t have a commercial stove, I let it cook for about an hour and 10 minutes, then used the immersion blender to smooth it out. I also placed the jars in a hot water bath for 10 minutes.

This recipe is very similar to the Pear Honey my mom made when I was a kid. However, hers includes pectin to thicken. When she made it, it was about the consistency of honey. Without the pectin it's definitely more like a syrup.

I was hoping this recipe really had honey in it. Bummer. all that sugar. I love the flavor of honey and wonder if I can adapt this recipe to use honey?

I made 3 batches of this wonderful Pear Honey But it is runny. Any ideas? I plan to use it as A syrup. Should I put pectin in next time? I Tried cooking it longer but the taste was not as fresh

I made this recipe two years ago and have requests for it constantly. It pairs really well with brie. Georgia pears are ready and planning to can some in a couple of days.

I cooked longer than required but my syrup never really became a "syrup" - should I have cooked longer or is Pear Honey not like a preserve?

We have 5 pear trees and they are always full of big pears. I made this pear honey in 2008 when my sister from Flordia was visiting and we love it, have gave lots of jars away as gifts.
