Servings: 30 balls
Prep Time: 2 hours 20 min
Cook Time: 5 min
Difficulty: Easy
1 egg, beaten
1 cup all-purpose flour
Salt and pepper
2 ounces cream cheese
2 sticks butter
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
Peanut oil, for frying
Cream the butter, cream cheese, salt and pepper together with an electric mixer until smooth. Using a very small ice cream scoop, or melon baller, form 1-inch balls of butter mixture and arrange them on a parchment or waxed paper lined sheet pan. Freeze until solid. Coat the frozen balls in flour, egg, and then bread crumbs and freeze again until solid.
When ready to fry, preheat oil in a deep-fryer to 350 degrees F.
Fry balls for 10 to 15 seconds until just light golden. Drain on paper towels before serving.

???The recipe calls for 1 c flour. but the directions says - Cream the butter, cream cheese, salt and pepper together with an electric mixer until smooth. Is the c. flour used at the end of recipe to coat frzn. balls or added to main ingredients? TY

Delicious, yes! Fattening, Yes! Loved these though! I believe the first person to post probably missed the part where you "refreeze" them after breading and only fry them for 10 seconds! If people can deep fry ice cream, you can deep fry butter/cream cheese.. shouldn't melt if you make them right!

Yes, they are very fattening but i'm sure you knew that when you read the recipe. I just made them and they are DELICIOUS!!! I don't understand why Paula deserves only 3 stars for the recipe being high in calories... I loved it and HIGHLY suggest it to anyone!!! Some people just like to be negative no matter what, they can't be positive.. Well i can and i HIGHLY recommend this recipe ;o)

I think maybe there is a typo in this recipe! I followed the recipe & did exactly what was listed. After frying, these "butter balls" were disgusting! The butter metled out of some while they were frying & the others continued to melt as they sat on the paper towel. I don't think I'll be trying this recipe again! I love Paula's recipes but this one isn't for me!
