Vegetable oil, for frying
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1 tablespoon Paula Deen’s House Seasoning
1 cup buttermilk
1 egg
4 cups okra, chopped
Heat the oil in a cast iron Dutch oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large bowl add flour, seasoning, buttermilk and egg. Mix well together. Add okra to mixture and coat. Using a tablespoon, scoop mixture into the hot oil. Constantly flip fritters to cook and brown evenly, about 12 to 15 minutes. Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Place in a serving bowl or platter and serve hot.

The OKRA in my garden is growing like
crazy, plants are 7 feet tall so I need new recipes as I have alot!! I made this recipe & it was really good, seemed to need alittle more spice so the next time I made them I added Cajun seasoning to them & also sprinkled them again right after removing from the oil & they were excellant. Good job Ms. Paula ![]()
