Servings: 10 to 12
Prep Time: 5 min
Cook Time: 10 min
Difficulty: Easy
1 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
2 cup self-rising flour
Preheat oven to 500 degrees. In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, and cream until the dough forms a ball. Turn the dough out onto a surface dusted with additional flour. Fold the dough in 1/2 and knead 5 to 7 times, adding just enough flour to keep dough from sticking to your hands. Gently roll out dough to 1/2-inch thickness. Using a 3-inch biscuit cutter coated with flour, cut dough into biscuits. Place on baking sheet coated with cooking spray, leaving at least 1-inch between each biscuit. Bake for 10 minutes, or until golden brown.

Nice fluffy biscuits, but oven temp way too high. Will try 425 next time. Biscuits came out too dark on top.

Paula...Being from the South I am hoping you can share a recipe I need. It is a white coconut Plantation cake with a French type frosting. It is baked in a 9x13 or larger pan. Thank you for any help. Wydene Finney

Since making these biscuits this has become my family's favorite. We have even tried other types of flour with them such as splet flour with good results.

This morning my daughter called me from her college apartment, and I asked what she was doing. She told me that she was eating some Paula Deen biscuits that she had just made and that they were delicious. A little later in the day, I noticed that on her Facebook page she posted, “God Bless Paula Deen and her biscuits.” I think this means that she approves of this recipe.

While tremendously easy, I wish I'd had the forethought to sprinkle some salt in the mix. The biscuits were too blandly sweet. A shot of salt would've made a world of difference. And my biscuits didn't rise, but perhaps I overworked them. Next time I'll make them taller. In any event, I WILL try this again. It was just TOO easy. And my biscuits aren't bad; they're just missing something -- salt.

new fav biscuits! I'll never try to do southern biscuits again. These are lighter, quicker to bake, and make. can't wait to show my grandmother this recipe!
