Compound butter makes a great gift.  Use your favorite fresh herbs and spices. The possibilities are endless.

Servings: 12
Prep Time: 10 min
Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients Add to grocery list

2 sticks butter, room temperature
4 tablespoons, any combination of chopped fresh herbs, citrus zest, fresh berries and spices

Directions

In a small mixing bowl use a spatula to mix together the butter and your favorite herb and spice mixture.  Store in a sealed container.
Paula’s Favorite Combinations:

Lemon Dill Butter (using lemon zest and fresh chopped dill) cut a piece to melt over broiled fish.
Blackberry Lemon Butter (using fresh smashed blackberries and lemon zest) put some on your morning biscuit.
Honey Butter (using fresh local honey) perfect on pancakes, biscuits and dinner rolls.
Michael’s Hot Butter (using adobo sauce) perfect on cornbread.

Paula’s Gift Packaging Tips:  I like to save my old jam jars and fill them with a special compound butter. I tie a ribbon around the lid and attach a tag with the name of the recipe on it.
