Recipe Courtesy of Paula DeenServings: 2 1/2 dozen bars
Prep Time: 20 min
Cook Time: 43 min
Difficulty: Easy
Crust:
1 3/4 cup vanilla wafer crumbs
3/4 cup finely chopped, roasted, salted macadamia nuts
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter, melted
Filling:
2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs
3/4 cup sour cream
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate morsels
3/4 cups finely chopped, roasted, salted macadamia nuts, divided
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Line a 13 by 9-inch baking pan with heavy-duty aluminum foil, letting the edges of the foil extend over the sides of the pan.
For the crust: In a small bowl, combine the wafer crumbs, nuts, brown sugar, and butter. Press evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake for 8 minutes. Let cool completely on a wire rack.
For the filling: In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and granulated sugar at medium speed with a mixer until creamy. Add the eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the sour cream. Pour over the crust. Sprinkle with chocolate morsels. Bake until set, 40 minutes. Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup nuts. Let cool completely on a wire rack. Cut into bars to serve. Store in the refrigerator.

We love the recipe! My 12 year old son loved it! Yeah! He would like to take a sample plate to school for a project...I wanted to know if I am reducing the size of the pan to an 8 x 8 glass, would that also include decreasing the time in the oven? Or does the bake time stay the same? Or should I try to 1/2 the ingredients? Thanks so much

hey i agree with barbara and stephanie. There is a 1/4 cup of nut unaccounted for in the receipe. If it has been corrected it does not show up on the directions that i am reading. For the crust: In a small bowl, combine the wafer crumbs, nuts, brown sugar, and butter. Press evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan. Bake for 8 minutes. Let cool completely on a wire rack.

Where is the correction, please?
By Barbara on July 26, 2011
Hey Stephanie! Thank you for pointing the issue out in the recipe. We have made the corrections. So sorry for the confusion. Please give these a try, they are delicious!! I've substituted graham crackers for the vanilla wafers too and they work great!

I maybe missing something however the crust calls for 3/4 cup finely chopped macadamia nuts as well as the filling however, the filling directions state; Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup nuts, my question is does the recipe actually only call for 3/4 cup finely chopped macadamia nuts & you only use 1/4 cup in the crust or does it actually call for 3/4 cup in the crust and in the filling and I am misunderstanding where the other 1/4 cup is used?
