Y’all, I can’t believe my baby is turning 40 this week. I look at him and he’s still that dark eyed boy with a great baseball arm and the sweetest smile I’ve ever seen. I can’t think about him turning 40 because that will make me feel as old as the hills. I prefer to say he is just turning 21. I can’t say for sure, but I think he might prefer that too. This year we’ll have an extra special celebration, but some things will always be the same. I’ll make him his favorite meal of Goulash, Blueberry Salad (something he added as he got older), a big side of homemade French Fries and the one sweet treat he indulges in each year…Caramel Cake. Sometimes I do it up right and do all the seven layers. Sometimes I get lazy and only do a few layers. It all tastes the same, but in honor of such a big year, I’ll go ahead and make him one with all the layers. After all, he deserves it. Happy Birthday son, I love you, I’m so proud of you and I’m real proud to be your momma.
