Halloween is one of my absolute favorite times of the year. I love everything about it – decorating the house and yard, planning our costumes, cooking creepy food treats with Jack like Ghoulish Eyes and Mini Mummies, and thinking about the cast of mischievous characters that will ring our front doorbell.
This past weekend, I threw a Halloween party for Jack and a few of his caped crusader buddies. I knew this group of pistols would have more room to run and play if we kept them outside, so Michael carried a wooden table to the yard where I could decorate it. After I wrapped the table like a mummy, I decorated it with other Halloween goodies…. an orange candelabra with black candles, spider webbing, mini pumpkins, and skeleton skulls. For the finishing touch (and a little drama), I added black crows and even hung a scary one off the end of table!
I had the most fun summoning the spirits in the kitchen, where I made adorable Creepy Crawly Brownie Bite Spiders and Wicked Candy Bar Cupcakes with ice cream cone and chocolate wafer witch hats for dessert! I knew those boys would certainly like my Hairy Eyeballs, and Moldy Guacamole with Creepy Critters. To serve my Witch’s Brew, I poured it into a metal bowl nestled in a huge cast iron pot filled with dry ice, which sent up swirls of spooky smoke. (You just have to make sure the kids keep their little hands away from the dry ice, and handle it yourself with work gloves.) Those little boys had a time!
Y’all, I hope you have the most enchanting Halloween this year, and that you are inspired to share the magic with the little creatures you adore!
