Servings: 3 1/2 - 4 1/2 dozen
Prep Time: 1 hour 20 min
Cook Time: 10 min
Difficulty: Easy

Ingredients Add to grocery list

3/4 cup finely chopped pecans
1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, at room temperature
1   (9-ounce) package chocolate candy kisses (recommended: Hershey’s Kisses)
1 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar

Directions

In a large bowl, cream the butter, sugar, and vanilla and almond extracts. Stir in the flour and blend well. Add the pecans and blend well. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dough for 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Unwrap the candy kisses. Press a scant tablespoon of dough around each kiss, covering it completely; shape into balls.

Place the cookies on ungreased cookie sheets and bake for 10 minutes. Cool slightly, then transfer to a rack to cool completely. Roll the cookies in confectioners’ sugar.

I tired to make these with out the nuts and it was a complete and total disaster, the cookies dough just flattened out and the cookies all ran into each other, what a waste! I did roll the final tray in chopped walnuts and they came out quite yummy. It is very important to use just enough dough to cover the kiss and not much extra.

Love this recipe. I printed this when it was on the Food Network 12 days of Christmas, and it has been in my cookie display since. Everyone that has tasted this cookie absolute love it. Especially if you eat one right out of the oven. Yummy! Thanks Paula! You are my girl for real! Love you!

We loved these!! My husband doesn't really care for pecans but he loved them. I am making these for the 2nd time in 2 weeks. We couldn't get enough of them! They don't last long! I tried to make make the balls of dough a little smaller, so there would be more chocolate! Great recipe!

These cookies are awesome slap your Grandma good. But we have voted (The family) There are several different ways to prepare the same cookie that they liked better not to say this variation is not up in the top two. In the middle put a dryed cherry instead of the kiss. Instead of the powered sugar drizzle dark chocolate over cookies or even after the powered sugar. Do the peanut butter cookie recipe with chocolate kiss in the middle. Then there is the chocolate cookie dough with a kiss or cherry in the middle yum. These are all variations we have used. Fill a tin or bucket up with these and your Granny will slap you back for not giving them to her sooner. You have given us some more great idea's for the same cookie which is candied cherry and Kiss in the middle both. We love you Paula Deen. Tammy Heninger Michigan City Indiana.
