Hey Ellen! No, you do not drain the cans of diced tomatoes before you add them. Happy Cooking! Our okra is plentiful right now! Paula's garden is exploding with it.

In "The Lady and Sons" "Okra and Tomatoes" recipe, are you supposed to drain the tomatoes before adding them? Thanks!

I had been cooking this for the past 35, or so, years for my Daddy. He past away a year ago today...and I found this recipe. Wonderful recipe. This is the first time that I've actually seen a recipe in print for this. We use to make a meal out of it by adding leftover ham, cubed. I made this in memory of my Daddy, Luther Harold Askew 1923-2009. This was made for you Daddy...I love and miss you so much. Brenda Askew Fortenberry
