3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

I had to make this cake twice b/c the first time the recipe was to much for the bunt pan that I had and it over flowed in the oven. The second time around I did not use all the recipe. When it was done it turned out beautiful and it was extremely delicious. I topped it off with a fudge glaze and it was the hit of the party. Nice and moist in the middle with a chewy crusty outside.

I consider myself a decent baker but this recipe has baffled me. I have made this cake 3 times in the past 10 days and it has fell each time. I have used fresh ingredients and at room temp. I have used a bundt pan, loaf pan and a regular tube pan and it fell with all of them. I didn't open the oven door during baking. I am racking my brains trying to figure what is wrong. The only thing I do know, I WILL NOT TRY IT AGAIN!

I made this pound cake for the Cultural Center fundraiser of gumbo and dessert. This pound cake was a great hit. Everyone was coming up to me to ask for the recipe. This recipe will be a staple in my easy scrumptious recipe box! Once again, thanks Paula!

I am not in love with this recipe. I have tried lots of Paula's dessert recipes and this is the first one I haven't been pleased with. The texture of this pound cake was chalky and dry. The chocolate flavor was mild. I think the baking time should be reduced and instead of 5 Tablespoons of cocoa I might would try actually putting semi sweet or bittersweet chocolate in it instead.

I have never made a pound cake in my life. Thank you Paula Dean for making this easy. I actually might be able to tell people that I know how to bake and they might even believe it, but it will be our little secret that I have no idea what I am doing, but it turned out terrific.

I took the time to become a member just to comment on this recipe. I just started baking and this is the very first cake I baked for my mom on her birthday. I followed the directions all the way and did not stray. Wonderful, everyone raved over the cake, and I have since had many request to make the cake. Many! I love this cake and I love Paula Deen.
