Sue and Gloria’s Baked Beans

Pineapple is the surprise ingredient here.

Ingredients:

1   (6 ounce) can French fried onions, crushed
5   slices of cooked bacon, crumbled
2 tablespoon yellow or brown mustard
1 cup Paula Deen BBQ Sauce
1 cup molasses
1   (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
4   (16 ounce) cans of baked beans
Salt and freshly ground pepper

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  In large bowl, mix together beans, pineapples, molasses, BBQ sauce, bacon, and a third of the onions.  Add some salt and pepper to taste.  Pour beans in 9-by-13 casserole dish and sprinkle remaining crushed onions and bacon on top.  Cook in oven for 1 hour or until beans brown and bubble.  Serve warm.

This is the only baked bean recipe I use now -- so delicious. I have yet to fix it and not get asked for the recipe. I don't like it with the French fried onions in it so omit those -- it has enough going on without them, I think.

I have made these twice now, and each time, I get rave reviews. Everyone loves them (the pineapple is the trick). Great Recipe!

The beans were amazing! We used a jalapeno bacon. It was a great balance of sweet and savory. I would make these again in a heartbeat!

I tried this recipe about a year ago everyone loved it! It's very easy to make and not too expensive either. December 5, 2009 Rhonda of California

Love, love, love it. The first time I made it(of course I never wrote the recipe down) my husband told me this was the best he had ever had. So I made it again last week but since I did not write it down I forgot the BBQ sauce. I thoght it was still good but my husband asked what I left out I said nothing-So then he said what had I put in it so I told him and he said you forgot the BBQ sauce. So here I am looking for the recipe and sure enough it does have BBQ sauce. We are hooked!

This was the first time I ever made baked beans, and I have to say they turned out so good! Very easy to make, beans have a tangy, sweet flavor and the french fried onions give it a great texture. My kids also loved them!
