Prep Time: 15 min
Cook Time: 45 min
Difficulty: Easy
1 1/2 cup self-rising flour
8 tablespoon (1 stick) butter
1/2 cup water
2 cup sugar, divided
4 cup peeled, sliced peaches
1 1/2 cup milk
ground cinnamon, optional
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine the peaches, 1 cup sugar, and water in a saucepan and mix well. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from the heat.
Put the butter in a 3-quart baking dish and place in oven to melt.
Mix remaining 1 cup sugar, flour, and milk slowly to prevent clumping. Pour mixture over melted butter. Do not stir. Spoon fruit on top, gently pouring in syrup. Sprinkle top with ground cinnamon, if using. Batter will rise to top during baking. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes.
To serve, scoop onto a plate and serve with your choice of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Dear Paula I know you are a lovely person and I heard you had a hard time to quit smoking this is how I did it I used to smoke three packs a day finally one day I decided to stop smoking I bought cigarettes I didn't like. I smoked them then when I got to like the cigarettes I bought cigarettes again that I did like. This helped me quit smoking cigarettes I bought every time I bought a lighter brand so I went from a stronger brand to lighter brand which helped me to quit stay away from people who smoke this will help to reduce the urge to smoke that's how I did it I haven't smoked in 40 years but remember smoking is like alcoholism you have to stay away from people who smoke just like people who drink alcohol I would like to thank you for reading my e-mail and I hope that you succeed in quitting smoking your friend allen lemire

My mother used this recipe as long as I can remember...I'm 65, and I've been using this recipe, too. Imagine my wonderful surprise when my daughter and I tasted this wonderful cobbler at the Horseshoe Restaurant in Indiana. We couldn't believe it! The only difference is I use milk (skim) instead of water. Sometimes I even throw in an egg. It just depends on what is handy! The food at your restaurant was soooo good! Thank you for sharing your talent with us and for posting your fabulous recipes!

I have searched all over to try to find a peach cobbler recipt that was like my late mothers, but untl now I hadn't. All he ones i found were the basic put canned biscuts on to of canned peaces, not my moms recipt for sure. I knew that a woman form the deep south would have a good one. Thanks Paula you never let me down. Virginia Boak P.S. I use to live in Barnwell, South Caarolina and we used to make trips to Savannah all the time, infact the guy I was with (My ex-husband)and his now wife named their first daughter Savannah. What went wrong? I followed all the directions except I doubled the recipe and Ihad to use canned peaches because of not having access to fresh ones, and because of the amount of people I had visting, but the problem I don't think was the peaches, but the flour mixture...only a fourth of it rose to the top and so my cobbler didn't have that "crunchy" crust zest I love when it comes to peach cobbler. I don't doubt the recipe, I just think I didn't do something right...

Hi Paula, i am a steady watcher of your program. I noticed in one of your magazines that you collect milk glass. I have too, for many years. I'm getting older now and don't have any use for it and the children don't want it. So I am selling the pieces. The pattern is Westmoreland Paneled Grape. I have about a hundred pieces. Let me know if you are interested. Loretta Donham

I have only myself to cook for but most all of the recipes have 4 or more servings. How do you cut down the ingredients for one or two? Sometimes it's impossible to cut some measurements in half or fourths. Maybe we could have something like a program that we could submit a recipe and it would automatically change the recipe to serve less?

Made this last night. My husband LOVES it! It is a very good cobbler. I bought peaches & peeled/cut them up for this instead of buying canned peaches. I probably will play with not using so much butter so to cause the top edges to be chewy, but other than that this is very tasty! ![]()

I just want to start out by saying, I'm not a cook by any means. But one day I got a craving for Peach Cobbler. So I started searching the web and I came across your recipe ( Paula Deen ). I couldn't have been more surprised on how simple the directions were. So I gave it a try and it turned out PERFECT. My Husband went nuts over it, He even makes a point to hint around for one a couple times a week. I cant wait to try more of your Wonderfully Delicious recipes. :o)
