Recipe Courtesy of Paula DeenServings: 8 servings
Prep Time: 15 min
Cook Time: 20 min
Difficulty: Easy
2 tablespoons butter, melted, plus more for pan
1 (16.3-ounce) can refrigerated biscuits (recommended: Pillsbury Grands Flaky Layers)
1/4 cup minced walnuts
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons orange zest
Glaze:
1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
2 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons orange juice, or more as necessary
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9-inch round cake pan.
Separate the biscuit dough into 8 biscuits. Place 1 biscuit in the center of the pan. Cut the remaining biscuits in half, forming 14 half-circles. Arrange the pieces around the center biscuit with cut sides facing in the same direction. Brush melted butter over the tops of the biscuits.
In a small bowl, combine the walnuts, granulated sugar, and orange zest. Mix well and sprinkle over biscuits. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
Meanwhile, in a small bowl combine confectioners’ sugar, cream cheese, and orange juice. Blend until smooth adding more orange juice, if needed, to thin. Drizzle glaze over the warm coffee cake and serve.

loved this recipe ,but I was looking for the one you made with the biscuits.that had cream cheese pieces in the middle of the dough, then you rolled them in orange. sure would love to have that recipe . for my eleven grandkids.

I love this! Simple to make and beautiful! I actually placed it on a sheet pan to bake and it looked like a big beautiful sunflower with petals slightly seperated. Did I mention...it was YUMMY!

This coffee cake is worthy of a place on a restaurant menu! It is not only delicious, but it is so attractive when the biscuits are arranged in the pan. It is so easy to make and takes little time. Impressive to guests, too. This one is a "keeper".

VERY good, and very easy to make! I finely chopped the walnuts the night before, and threw the recipe together the next morning with very little work. The second time I made them I used butter flavor cooking spray (from a previous tip) and was even faster.

This is fabulous!!! I have made it several times the way it is, and then made it into balls like monkey bread. Great both ways!

Big Hit! I substituted pecans for the walnuts, used spray butter and low fat cream cheese instead. It was still GREAT!

This recipe is so easy, and turns out perfect every time. The only thing I change is to use pecans instead of walnuts (just my personal preference). I have had numerous people ask me for this recipe. It's definitely a keeper.

Very easy to make. I used biscuits with butter already in them so I didn't have to put the melted butter on. The whole family loved them, even the kids.
