Orange Brownies

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
4   eggs
2 teaspoon pure orange extract
1 teaspoon grated orange zest

Glaze:
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 teaspoon grated orange zest

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Grease a 13x9x2-inch pan.  Stir together flour, granulated sugar, and salt in a bowl; add butter, eggs, extract, and zest.  Using a handheld electric mixer, beat until well blended.  Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes, or until light golden brown and set.  Remove from oven and pierce entire cake with a fork.  For glaze, mix all ingredients together and stir until smooth.  Pour glaze over cake.  Cool and cut into squares.

YUMMY! This brownie is so unique and moist. I did not have any orange extract so I used 2 tsp. fresh squeezed orange juice instead and added 1 teaspoon lemon extract. I will definately make this again. I did have to bake it a little longer than stated though.

LOVE this recipe...only thing I would do is make 1 & 1/2 times the frosting so it covers all of the brownie. Delicious!

This recipe needs no modifications, it is just grand the way it is. That being said, I would also try making some of the modifications other people have made out of curiosity but can't imagine the taste being any better than the original recipe.

I wondered about a levening agent and didn't find one included. Mine didn't rise much and I found them stiff and dry. Surely there is supposed to be some baking powder in the recipe?

A friend made this for a church gathering. (We're both Paula freaks) I am a chocoholic, but this was a great change from the taste of chocolate. I'm making it for friends at physical therapy and another meeting.

These are just scrumptious. I changed a couple things like only using 3 eggs and adding a 6oz orange flavored yogurt to the batter. They are rich and moist and the flavor is a knock out !! Paula's hit the winner's circle again with a wonderful treat !!! thanks

Although I changed this recipe slightly, these are terrific.. !!! I added a 6oz container of orange yogurt, and only used 3 eggs to make them less cakey, and more brownie=like.. I also squeezed real orange juice to use instead of extract.. As ususal, Paula is the bomb with great goodies.. My family still begs over and over for the peanut butter cup cheesecake cupcakes.. They are a family favorite for the last two years ..

A hit with everyone in the family. I hate cooking (and am usually not very good at it), but this cake was fun to make, and oh, so yummy!
