Not Yo’ Mama’s Banana Pudding

A new twist on an old favorite.  This banana pudding is delicious and pretty too!

Ingredients:

1   12-ounce container frozen whipped topping thawed, or equal amount sweetened whip
1   14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
1   8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
2 cup milk
1   5-ounce box instant French vanilla pudding
6-8   bananas, sliced
2   bags Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies

Directions

Line the bottom of a 13x9x2-inch dish with 1 bag of cookies and layer bananas on top.

In a bowl, combine the milk and pudding mix and blend well using a handheld electric mixer.  Using another bowl, combine the cream cheese and condensed milk together and mix until smooth.  Fold the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture.  Add the cream cheese mixture to the pudding mixture and stir until well blended.  Pour the mixture over the cookies and bananas and cover with the remaining cookies.  Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Absolutely, without a doubt, the very best Banana Pudding we've ever eaten. My daughter requested this for her 10th Birthday Celebration. And we absolutely love it. Have made it many times and will continue for many years. Thanks for sharing it, Paula!

Everytime I make this recipe people go crazy for it! I have given this recipe out to so many people :) I originally got the recipe from a woman in Santa Barbara when we lived there-she brought this dish to our neighborhood block party and everyone went crazy for it there! It's easy and fun and such a crowd pleaser--at our recent church cookout I took two pans full and it was the first dessert gone--I put a little lemon juice on my bananas to keep them from browning....people at church put blueberries on top!

Paula, made this twice within the past week. First time for my family and they loved it. Second time was for my friend's annual pig roast and I had people tracking me down to tell me how awesome it was. I read the reviews and I agree with others, you can switch out on the type of cookie, pudding and fruit and believe all would be good. Thank you so much!

My daughter made this for our 4th of July Family reunion. It was very creamy, but I did not like the crispiness of the cookies on the top. I think I'll stick to putting vanilla wafers on the bottom and in the middle, but use the rest of the recipe.

A couple of years ago I made this as a birthday surprise for my husband and my brother in law. It was a big hit! My brother in law was sick and could not make it to my Mom's. Well needless to say, even though I had made a hugh dish of this desserts, my brother in law never got any!! It was all eaten, not one drop was left!!! This is a wonderful dessert and with the cookies, it is really beautiful.

I don't see what the big deal is with this recipe. I made it and the flavors are totally bland. It lacks a lot of flavors. It is smooth and creamy indeed, but it taste like cream and all the others whipped together and produced nothing to freak out about. Will continue to look.

All I can say is Thank You to the person who came up with this one I always new I could add my favorite cookies to something other than my homemade CheeseCake IceCream. This is crazy good. I've made it 3 times and everyone always wants the recipe. I had to go buy a suitable dish to make it in because I'll be making this alot. Even people who don't really like bananas (including me) love this recipe.

I love this recipe! I changed it up a little. Just want ya'll & Paula to know what I did. I baked brownies (from box), cut into bite size pieces, placed on bottom (instead of the cookies) and continued with the Banana Pudding recipe, except I didn't use any bananas. I sprinkled pecan pieces on top of the pudding mixture. I've made it like this 3 times and everyone loved it ! Gwen, North Carolina

Everyone at work was excited to see the dish, then I had to make more for home today! Thanks for a great & easy recipe! You will please the toughest critics with this!

Awesome! Delish! The only thing I changed is I made homemade REAL whip cream(powder sugar, heavy cream, vanilla). I do not eat whipped topping ( oil and highfructose corn syrup = yuck). This is a really good recipe though, everyone raved over how creamy and yummy it was. The chessmen cookies also keep really well, so you get that nice softness that you get with the traditional wafer, but you also get a little crunch from the chessmen cookies. I am making this for THANKSGIVING!

Paula: You are a genius! The first time I made this was for my bosses birthday. He was out sick and it wasn't eaten until after the weekend and it was amazing, it actually seemed to improve after sitting (covered) in the refrigerator. I diced the bananas, folded them into the pudding and covered the top with more whipped topping. It was so well received that my boss only got a taste of his "Birthday Pudding". This is going into family favorite dessert history.

I just have to let everyone know how absolutely wonderful this recipe is. I made it for the first time Thanksgiving 2008 and it was a HUGE hit!! I've made it several times and there is never enough to go around, word spreads fast and people can't wait to get some, they even come to my house just to eat some and leave if they know I have some. Once you try it, you will never want to go back to the old fashion way.

I haven't made this recipe, but saw it on the Food Network site but made with vanilla ice cream. Has anyone seen or made it that way? I have a question about that recipe, it's caled "It's Not Your Mamma's Banana Pudding ICE-CREAM". I wanted to know when or how to add the ice cream? Is it mixed together at one point? Or is the ice cream just placed on top? It states "Banana Pudding ICE-CREAM" like it's mixed together, if so, at what point do you mix it? HELP

So funny, I made this to take to my daddy. However, the same day at church we were having a lunch after service, I left for church early for class and my husband was coming later and to bring the food I had prepared. When I went through the buffet line, there was my daddy's Not Yo' Mama's Banana Pudding more than half gone! My friend Diane called it "Not Yo' Daddy's Banana Pudding" It was a hit at the Methodist Church and has taken a new name. It is a classic and a must bring favorite!

I started making this last year for the teachers luncheon at my children's elementary school. Now, everytime they have a luncheon, they insist that I make this pudding. I always want to try a new/different dessert, but they won't let me! I double the recipe and put in only 1/2 the whipping cream. I put the remainder on top and crush the cookies into big chunks...leaving three cookies whole for decorative purposes!

Very Delicious! I found that as written, there was too much whipped topping, making the pudding mixture too fluffy, so I'd use 1/2 of it next time. I had 1 bag of Chessmen but a pack of Lorna Doone cookies on-hand, so I used both. Works great with either cookie!!!
