Hi Paula, I came from the mountains of Tennessee and always had great food cooking. Both parents raised on farms but dad became military for 24 years and part of that was with different cultures and mom learned lots of recipes and taught me to try new things. Your recipes are wonderful and you are so gracious and REAL. I love you for being who you are. May God bless you and give you wisdom always. Thank you Ann Hamilton

This is a nice blend, but next time I will cut back on the salt... maybe 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup. I like salt, but it was too salty. On the upside, it's a blend we all love and use and it's very handy to have it all blended and ready in on shaker.

Paula, I am 68 yrs old, love your shows and recipes. My ancestors were all farmers and the recipes handed down to me all were made with lard, real butter, churned right at home, etc. We have one life, I say eat happy!!! Love your books.

Paula, I need a salt free seasoning receipe that I can use on meat and vegetables. Can you help me? Thanks so much.
By Pat on December 08, 2011
For fish, chicken, salads, etc., take some of Paula's home seasoning and add to your taste: Dried parsley flakes Dried dill Lemon Pepper Some onion salt Sprinkle all over chicken or fish before cooking and, of course, for chicken you can add some thyme, or other faves. Lots of dill sprinkled on green salads along with parsley flakes before tossing or adding dressing makes for a more "vegetable flavor".

We purchased Paula's House Seasoning at a big box store and my husband has gone nuts with it and puts it on and in everything. Pasta Sauce, Pork Chops, Green Beans, you name it, be puts it in there. We have this simple supper with Kielbasa, green beans and potatoes that we throw in a pot and cook until the potatoes are done and I asked why it was so good the last time he made it and the answer was (you guessed it) I put in Paula Deen's House Seasoning!

The recipe with Onion Powder is in Bubba's cookbook.

Hi Debbie, Any salt will just fine, but Paula prefers Kosher.

This is the best seasoning my family has ever had. Thanks.
By Maria Delarosa on October 11, 2011
You mention 1 cup salt. Do you use Kosher or regular salt. Thank you.

Why is it that Paula mentions that onion powder goes into her House Seasoning and when I bought a bottle it also listed onion powder but when I look for the recipe it NEVER lists the onion powder? How much should be in the recipe for House Seasoning?
By Sheyrie Skipper on September 28, 2011
I've made the house seasoning and gave some away everyone loves it , I'm making another patch today thank for sharing. Cindy

Hi Ginni, You can just add onion powder to your own personal taste.
By Jonathan Able on September 06, 2011
Paula...your receipe for your house seasoning calls for just salt, pepper and garlic. The ingredients on the bottle of this seasoning says it has onion powder in it. My question, if I need to add onion powder, how much do I add for one receipe of Paula's seasonings? Getting ready to make Bobby's pimento cheese for family week at Edisto Beach in SC and want to wow my siblings! Help!!!!
By Ginni Burden on August 16, 2011
I just want you all to know. I use the on EVERYTHING. I even went to Culinary school and yet, this is my "go to" seasoning of choice! Whenever anyone asks what I used to season something, I tell them, it's a secret only Paula Deen and I know. What do they know? hahahhahaha
