I fixed the Standing Rib Roast night. I fowwlowed to directions exactly, Arter leavinf the oven off for the sugested time and turned the oven back on, I thought I was to use the 475 deg. for the additional time to warm. The house smoked up so much it set off the fire alarm. What did I do wrong?

Paula, I made this for Christmas dinner this year and it was phenomenal! I was so afraid that this wouldn't turn out & was scared to death that I was gonna ruin a $40 roast. It was so hard not to peek in the oven. It made my whole house smell good for 2 days. I should've just trusted you!!

I am buying a 10lb standing rib roast. I am going to follow your directions to a tee BUT my question is...When I turn the oven back to 375 for the second heating, do I cook it 30-45 minutes AFTER it gets to 375 or do I set the timer for 30-45 minutes WHILE it is heating to 375? Thanks!

Just a suggestion... It would be more helpful if you also listed cooking times by pounds. How long for a 10lb roast? Thanks

Does anyone know...same time for smaller roasts? ie: 3-4 pound? From the comments, looks like same time for larger roasts, but will doing it the same for a smaller roast over cook it?
