Recipe Courtesy of Paula DeenIf the word “butter” is in the title, you know it’s gonna be good!
Servings: 2 dozen cookies
Prep Time: 10 min
Cook Time: 15 min
Difficulty: Easy
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Confectioner’s sugar, for dusting
1 (18 ounce) box moist chocolate cake mix
1 (8-ounce) brick cream cheese, room temperature
1 egg
1 stick of butter, room temperature
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl with an electric mixer, cream the cream cheese and butter until smooth. Beat in the egg. Then beat in the vanilla extract. Beat in the cake mix. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours to firm up so that you can roll the batter into balls. Roll the chilled batter into tablespoon sized balls and then roll them in confectioner’s sugar. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart. Bake 12 minutes. The cookies will remain soft and gooey. Cool completely and sprinkle with more confectioners’ sugar, if desired.
These are absolutely to die for!!!!! Make them several times a year.

These are absolutely delicious - even after freezing. However, they are a pain in the BUTT to make. Very sticky and messy.

I made this cookie for Christmas and it was a hit!! Everyone who tried it loved it. It was very easy to make and is similar to another cookie "chocolate krinles" that I usually make....but I think it's better. This ones a keeper.

Kay and M, 1 stick equals 1/2 cup, or 1/4 pound

These cookies are wonderful, but the prep time listed on the website states it's a 10 minute prep. However, it's actually a 2 HOUR prep time. This part isn't noted until you read all the way through the directions. So at first glance it's a little deceiving. I was trying to whip up something quick and easy for a holiday party, but these turned to be not so quick. I think the 2 hours required to chill the cookie dough should be included in the prep time part of the recipe. But the cookies are delicious!

I like your baking

These cookies should be renamed OMG! Thank you Paula! My children loved them. A little side story for you: my daughter who is 15 and suffers from a disease known as recessive epidermolysis bullosa wants you (Paula) to know she loves your show and finally got to try something that even her lazy momma could make. Love you Paula!

These cookies are fantastic!!! Thanks for sharing this recipe!

Don't use fat free cream cheese- I think it probably accounted for the fact my cookies just tasted like a little bite of chocolate cake rather than more fudgy cookies like the recipe stated.

This is a favorite at my house. My kids especially like it made with a lemon cake mix.
