For some reason mine turned out really dry and crispy like a cracker. I didn't add any pecans because I didn't have any at home with me. I think the thing I did wrong was I used a 9x12 inch pan because that was my smallest one. I will try it again with either a smaller pan or I'd have to leave it in the oven for 10 minutes instead of 20 minutes.

I am addicted to these. Soooooooooooooooooooooo good. I have been looking for a recipe for chewies to try and this is the first one I tried and do not need to look anywhere else. Everyone during the holidays gobbled these up. Very cheap and easy to make.

I made this recipe after visiting Sugardaddies in Columbus, Ohio. They have gourmet bar cookies and I loved the ones with a blondie-type base and salted nuts sprinkled on the top. So I used Paula's Brown Sugar Chewies recipe and added Heath bar chips into the batter, and topped the batter with: salted whole almonds, salted whole cashews and raw chopped pecans. I used a triple batch for a 11" by 17" jelly roll pan. They were incredible!
