Bobby’s Goulash

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon Paula Deen House Seasoning
3 tablespoons soy sauce
3   bay leaves
2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
2   (15-ounce) cans diced tomatoes
2   (15-ounce) cans tomato sauce
3 cup water
3   cloves garlic, chopped
2   large onion, chopped
2 lbs lean ground beef
1 tablespoon Paula Deen Seasoned Salt
2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked

Directions

In a Dutch oven, saute the ground beef over medium-high heat until no pink remains. Break up the meat while sauteing. Spoon off any grease. Add the onions and garlic to the pot and saute until they are tender, about 5 minutes. Add 3 cups water, along with the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, soy sauce, House Seasoning, and seasoned salt. Stir well. Place a lid on the pot and allow this to cook for 15 to 20 minutes. Add the elbow macaroni, stir well, return the lid to the pot, and simmer for about 30 minutes. Turn off the heat, remove the bay leaves, and allow the mixture to sit about 30 minutes more before serving. Serve with garlic bread and a salad.

Servings: 6 servings (unless Bobby's eating, then only 3 servings)

I Love Love Love this goulash! I had it for the 1st time when my fiance & I were visiting his family in North Dakota last year. When I got back to Minnesota, I was waiting in the physicians office a few days later wondering what was in the recipe, when low and behold, I found it in a magazine. I ripped the recipe out and made it for supper that night. I now have a couple of Paula's cookbooks, and the ripped out recipe has been thrown away. But this is definately a favorite in our home...4 kids and all.

On a busy day this is a great recipe to fix I made one-half recipe for lunch and we'll be having it for dinner also! My husband simply loved this dish.

Very Good - glad I tried it. I cut the recipe in half and cooked the macaroni separate. It was plenty for the two of us with just enough for another meal.

I was inspired by this recipe to come up with one of my own. Much love to Paula Deen for the inspiration. For those who think the noodles mushy. Actually country goulash has very soft noodles. Its actually how it is suppose to be. If you like you noodles more aldente and more Italion like just cook them as package directs, adjust the water in Paula's recipe to the thickness you like, and add the pasta in... or just find a goulash recipe that fits the style you are more use to. Just remember Hungarian Goulash and Amrican goulash are WAY different. Even within American goulash there are different ways of going about it.

My husband and I just had this for lucnh today. It's a delicious quick meal.I was from a family of 8 boys and 6 girls so I learned to cook at a very early age and still love it. When family members visit West Virginia from other states our place is where they call HOME!Guess it's my "Country Cookin" that brings them in! HA

This was the best recipe and the leftovers were even better. I served it with mini jalapeno corn muffins and a salad. Perfect for a supper on a cold night in Alabama!!!

SO yummy! Makes a bit too much for my little family of four (one selective eater and one somewhat selective eater.) It was very easy to 1/2 the recipe. The somewhat selective eater enjoyed it. DH and I LOVED it! I cut down on the cooking time once the noodles were in (only because I was short on time.) It worked out great! Noodles ended up just right. Thanks, Bobby! -KellyJean

I gave it a 5 star because it was simple to make, ingredients we have in the pantry, and delicious. It was hearty and made a huge pot. I added green pepper, diced. My pasta was not soggy, I cooked it on low heat maybe 10min, then let it rest in the pot till ready to serve. (I used Ronzoni smart taste elbows)

I see you followed me here.. I made this last night for work today. and people loved it. I followed the recipe except for adding the pasta. I put the watery base in the fridge overnight and then when I got to work, had it in a crock pot on low (to warm it for a few hours) and one and a half hours before our luncheon I added the uncooked macaroni. Turned out great!

It was okay. I probably wont make it again. Nothing special. The noodles were mushy. I advise to cook them according to package directions. Flavor was okay. Sorry Bobby. I had to force my kids to eat at least 3 bites. Maybe its just my kids. The one upside is it serves a lot and is cheap.

I have made this many times, and I have always been very pleased with the results. It's very flavorful. It takes a little time, but oh, so worth it. It makes a lot, so I freeze leftovers, or make it when we have company. I hear nothing but raves about it!

This was great! All I did to change it a little bit was to delete the tomatoes. My husband won't eat tomatoes in any form except tomato sauce so I just used that....I also used ground pork as well as ground beef. Thank you Bobby for a great recipe...and thank your dear mom for raising you so good!

This was terrible! A waste of money, sorry Paula and Bobby! The noodles were so overdone they were like mush. If you want to try this recipe, cook the noodles separate, according to its packaging. Then add cooked noodles to meat mixture. The meat mixture had an okay flavor. I tried to pick out the noodles but after 1 hour 1 gave up and threw the whole lot in the trash.

I made this recipe for my husband after the first time I saw it on Miss Paula's show. HE LOVES IT!!! When he was single, my husband was a big Chef-Boy-Ardee fan and now that he has me, he thinks it's WAY better than canned. I love it 'cuz I know what's going in his food and can tweak things if there's something he's not fond of. With this recipe ~ no tweaking was necessary at all. It's no wonder Bobby asks Miss Paula to make this for him each year on his birthday ~ it's great and it's easy!

I and my sis had a bowl each.. and the boys finished up the pot by noon the next day...i added the corn and kidney beans because we like it like that
