Recipe Courtesy of Paula DeenServings: 4 servings
Prep Time: 5 min
Cook Time: 40 min
Difficulty: Easy
1 1/2 lb cubed round steak, cut into thin strips
Paula Deen’s House Seasoning to taste
all purpose flour
2 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoon butter
1 medium onion, sliced
8 ounce fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 (10 3/4-ounce) can beef broth
1 (10 3/4-ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup sour cream
cooked egg noodles
Season the steak strips with House Seasoning, then dust with flour. In a large skillet, quickly brown them on both sides in the olive oil and butter. Remove the steak from the pan. Add the onion slices and mushrooms to the pan drippings. Saute for a few minutes, until the onion is tender. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon flour. Put the steak back into the pan with the onion and mushrooms. Add the mushroom soup and beef broth. Cook over low heat for about 30 minutes, covered. Adjust seasoning to taste, adding salt and pepper, as needed. Stir in the sour cream the last few minutes, right before you serve. Serve over cooked noodles.

This is very good! I have changed a few things based on what I have on hand and it still turned out good. I used ground beef and cubed bouillon instead of canned broth - again, I like to use what I have and not make runs to the store. Going to make it again tonight! ![]()

I have been cooking for more years than I will admit to being alive! Before I tried this recipe I was afraid of using canned beef broth because so many chefs claimed it to be over salty and horrendous. They were beyond wrong. I love the canned beef broth in this recipe and have expanded to use it in my everyday cooking as well. Before it took me hours to make a comforting and yummy beef stroganoff--but this recipe is wonderful and every bit just as good.

This recipe was delicious! I don't know how families manage to cook those one box beef straganoff recipes. Made from scratch tastes better and I am able to cook with all natural or organic ingredients. I did substitute with ground beef, because Earth Fare does not carry cubed round steak. I only seasoned the meat with the House Seasoning and DID NOT add any more salt and pepper. I am glad I didn't because it was seasoned enough with the addition of the beef stock. Any suggestions out there on how to make the broth more thick? I added more flour to the broth during the cooking stage, but I wasn't able to get it to the right thickness I was looking for. Overall, it was an amazing dish and it is going in the recipe box!

Delicious! I prepared it as per the recipe once before, but the last time I made it was for my little nephew who was visiting. As he is still in the "that's not how mommy makes it" stage, I thought I'd guarantee to get some dinner into him by making this with meatballs instead of regular beef. What a happy accident! I've made it several times since, both with sliced steak and meatballs, to great success.

Don't get me wrong,I watch you a lot on TV and have made some of your recipes. I have a couple of your cookbooks. But I would like to have a simple recipe of banana bread. You know, like Mom made. Once in a while a simple recipe is all we want.

Sooooooo good! I'm on a low sodium diet so I didn't use the House Seasoning or salt. I did use black pepper and garlic powder to season. Again, that diet thing, used low sodium beef broth, fat free cream of mushroom soup, low fat sour cream, and No Yolk noodles but it was wonderful. Yes, I used butter but adjusted everything else to diet. I really enjoyed you and your brother Bubba cooking together.
