A bone in roast will cook faster than a boneless roast because the bone conducts heat.

Paula’s Best Dishes

Season 6 of my Food Network Show, Paula’s Best Dishes, will be setting up to tape this week in my home.  I thought y’all might find it interesting to know how many people (crew) it takes to tape this show.  When we have guests on the set, they tell me how amazed they are at how efficiently everything runs AND what a disaster my house is! For two weeks of taping, I will have only one very small path from my bedroom to the kitchen (thank goodness I have an exit through the laundry room out to my car). The rest of my house is a full blown mess. This crew that comes from all across the United States, moves furniture and rugs, hangs lighting, brings in tables and monitors, racks for food and various equipment that, after all these years, I still don’t know what it is used for.

I couldn’t imagine spending two weeks in such a small space with any other group of people. As you can imagine, we have become a family over the years. Like most family visits, I can’t wait for them to arrive and I look forward to seeing them go!

My Paula’s Best Dishes Family:
2 Executive Producers(Gordon and Aimee), 1 Segment Producer(Jevon), 1 Assistant Producer(Jenny), 1 Production Associate(Ai), 1 Technical Coordinator(James), 1 Camera A/Lighting Director/Director of Photography(Dan), 1 Camera B(Greg), 1 Audio(Mark), 1 Grip(Jamie), 1 Utility (Katie, and I still don’t know what this job is), 2 Production Assistants(Thomas and Christopher), 1 Hairstylist(Jamie), 1 Make-Up(Courtney), 1 Personal Assistant/Props(Brandon), 1 Head Food Stylist(Libbie), 1 On Set Assistant Food Stylist(Martha), 3 Food Stylist(Vera, Lynne and Brenda), 1 Shopper/PA Coordinator(Becky) and 1 Dishwasher(William).

That’s 23 precious people/family that make up the production team. No wonder the bathroom is never vacant!

Paula,

I have been watching your show from the very beginning.  I love to cook, I’m from the South, I’ve been a single mom of 2 kids(now happily remarried,) and I enjoy life—so I could easily relate to you and your show!  This article is absolutely amazing because I had no idea how many people were involved in producing your show and I didn’t know that you had to deal with such a mess and all those people in your home!  Bless your heart!  Keep up the good work and You Go, Girl!!!!

I watched Paula’s show yesterday, Saturday August 14th.  I cannot remember her guests name but he was Mexican and they made a BBQ coleslaw.  I am trying to find that recipe.  PLEASE HELP!!!!!
