After washing/rinsing lettuce & shaking to rid water… lay a paper towel on the bottom of a square tupperware-like container.  Separate the leafs and place side by side for the first layer… then place a paper towel on top & continue until all lettuce leafs are covered.  Put the lid on & you’ll have crispier lettuce that lasts longer.  It’s also an incentive to make salads or add lettuce to sandwiches, etc., because of the convenience.

This works for celery and baby carrots too.  I took an extra hour after shopping and washed and dried my celery, carrots and lettuce.  Then i put them in 1 gallon freezer bags with 2 paper towels in them and refrigerated as usual.  After about 1 week I changed the paper towels and add a new one.  The veggies lasted me over 2 weeks still fresh and crisp.

Plus I am more likely to grab some healthy celery or carrots if they are ready to go than to grab some junk food to sit and watch tv with.  Great advice.

Oh yes ....You can do the same thing with block cheese.  Moisture is what causes most of your issues.  Cut the block into serving sizes and layer it in a air tight container with some paper towels.  Last so much longer and doesn’t get all slimy.
