I made homemade bread and it went stale the next morning. I mean hard as a rock…..that loaf could of been used as a lethal weapon! No wonder my Grammy said her mom used to make bread every other day….you have to LOL

How do I keep it fresh after I bake it??? Money is horribly tight till the 1st and i need bread (I already have the ingredients in my pantry to make homemade bread). The recipes I use are for making 2 loaves and I can’t half it because I can’t half 1 egg tongue laugh and I don’t want to just toss the other loaf (that’s what i ended up doing before). Anyone have any tips for suggestions? I am really in a bind. Thank you!

BTW, makes me uneasy to know my homemade bread only lasts a day and store bought bread will last weeks. What the heck is in store-bought bread???? Sounds like nothing good hmmm hmmm

I’m far from being an expert on homemade bread but I put mine in a plastic bag and store it in the frig.  Most of the time we have sourdough bread, although we really like wheat.

I make homemade sourdough bread with the starter that you keep in the fridge and feed weekly. As long as I double wrap mine in Saran wrap, it stays fresh for a week. After I double wrap it in the plastic wrap, I then place it into the produce bags from the grocery store. You can freeze it that way as well.
Best of luck with your bread! Hope this might help in a small way.

Haha I have the same problem too. I also heard that some breads should be kept in a brown bag and some in a plastic bag. I haven’t tried it yet but usually I place mine in a plastic bag. Maybe I’ll experiment one day! smile
