I’ve made this one for many years, it is the BEST ever, and so simple.  The only difference is that I use 5 chocolate bars and a large container of cool whip, otherwise it’s sort of sickenly sweet, and dense, where you can only eat a sliver.  I also use the lite cool whip.  Basically, you can use as many chocolate bars as you want.  Also, after microwaving the chocolate, let it sit for a minute ot so, and ensure the chocolate isn’t too hot.  I’ve taken this pie to so many places, and it’s a sure hit.  For presentation, you can grate on a bit of a leftover choc bar, or just add choc jimmies.

Dear Flamingolady,

You are welcome to use 1, 2 3, 4, 5, 6 , 7, 8, 9, bars of candy if you want to : But the recipe calls for 9 hershey bars with almonds with the 12 oz. cool whip. 5 bars if you are using an 8 oz. cool whip.

I posted this recipe because I thought everyone would enjoy it for the summertime and also because I have made it many many many times , probably for about 20 years and I have never had one person tell me it was sickenly sweet. Now if you want to post a recipe for YOUR Hershey pie please do so on another thread not on my recipe thread. I did not place the recipe on here for someone to tell the members other wise about the ingredients.  so far I have always had rave reviews for the recipes I have posted. Also numerous private messages on how they they enjoyed the recipes I have posted.  Thank you and happy posting.

My intent is not to create problems, but I made this pie this morning.  I asked my husband to stop and buy 9 Hershey bars on his way home from work last night.  I followed Homebody’s recipe, and just finished eating a piece.  I think it’s a wonderful tasting pie and not only that….it’s so easy to make.  I didn’t find it sickeningly sweet, not at all.  Hubby is still on the golf course so he hasn’t tasted it yet, but I know he’ll like it.  I know his tastebuds well after 29 years of marriage.  I’ll definitely make it again and again.

Thank you, Homebody.

I’ve made this before but the recipe I used called for cream cheese also.  Will give yours a try the next time…....thanks for posting it, Homebody.

It was the same as Homebody’s….....except it called for an 8-oz cream cheese also.  And I used plain Hersey bars…....will definitely use the ones with almonds next time though.
